Statement of Purpose

The Friends are people like you who love Caddo Lake and recognize the importance and value of the Caddo Lake NWR as habitat for migratory birds and other native wildlife and plants.

The purpose of the Friends Group is to promote awareness and appreciation of the National Wildlife Refuge System. In particular, Friends take care of outreach, special events, and operating needs for which the US Fish & Wildlife Service may not be budgeted.

The mission of the Friends Group is to work with the community to educate, conserve, protect, and enhance native fish and wildlife habitats within the Caddo Lake NWR for the continuing benefit of the American people.

We are committed to helping the Service maintain and improve the refuge for the enjoyment and benefit of all -- and ensuring that this irreplaceable ecological treasure is here for future generations.
